On the 3rd of December 2011, Miguel Cotto and Antonio Margarito will finally meet in the ring of Madison Square Garden in New York for the Super Welterweight WBA World Championship.  In anticipation of this big fight, there has been an increased interest in boxing games of course, so what are some of the best ones to play on a computer?

Worldwide Boxing Manager is a timeless classic released in 2007, where you can be the manager of some great boxing stars.  If you enjoy Worldwide Boxing Manager, you could also consider Total Knockout, a fun female fighting game.  This really is a game to play for fun, however, as it focuses a lot more on the physical dimensions of the female fighters than on the actual boxing sport.

Title Bout Championship Boxing, however, is a dream come true for boxing fanatics, as it allows you to make famous boxers from very different eras fight each other.  You could even choose to fight Cassius Clay against Muhammad Ali.  One and the same person, of course, but many feel Cassius didn’t become a great boxer until he turned into Muhammad.  And now you can find out whether there is any truth in this.  Title Bout Championship Boxing really is a very detailed game that will be enjoyed by anyone who has even the slightest interest in boxing.

If you like boxing trivia, you could opt to play the Title Bout Boxing Quix, which will test your general knowledge about boxers and boxing matches throughout the years.

There are many other games available on the market, some serious, others just for fun.  Many of these have been around for many years, with a lot of gamers hoping for the next big boxing game to make an appearance soon.

Watch Cotto vs Margarito this Saturday and feel inspired by real life boxing!
